A Time for Gratitude

Thanksgiving is a holiday we celebrate in the United States. The pilgrims were thankful for what they had and they shared their blessings with others on that first Thanksgiving.

What is gratitude and what happens when we are grateful for what we have in life?

Gratitude is the appreciation offered to another for something they did that was valuable to the receiver, costly to the benefactor and was given without ulterior motive.

When we have gratitude we see that we also have abundance rather than scarcity in our life. We do not seek more than we need because we recognize we are blessed with what we possess or have around us.

What are the benefits for being grateful? There is a rise in research with people who are grateful and how it affects their well-being. Grateful people are happier, less depressed, less stressed and more satisfied with their lives and social relationships.

When we continually are in scarcity it is because we are thinking negatively and when we are living in abundance we are living in the present and positively. Which would you rather do?

Action: Everyday, write down in your journal what you are grateful for in your life. Start with the 10 most important things for the first day and write one or more every day there after. Your life will change to abundance and you will never want for anything. You will be amazed that you will stop asking for things and you will give more than you ever have in your life.

May all the blessings of this world be yours this Thanksgiving Day!
